Five Ohio Wesleyan University softball players were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference teams, it was announced today.
Senior outfielder Ashley Day (West Liberty-Salem), freshman pitcher-infielder Madi Drabick (Mount Vernon), and senior shortstop Kayla Richard (Minster) were second-team all-conference selections, and freshman outfielder Madison Bridger (Pataskala/Licking Heights) and freshman pitcher-infielder Erica Buchanan (Hilliard/Davidson) were honorable mention picks.
Day batted .359 with 11 RBI and led the Bishops with 12 stolen bases this season. She was a first-team All-NCAC selection in 2017 and a second-team choice in 2016.
Drabick led the Bishops with a .441 batting average, 4 home runs, and 36 runs batted in this season. In the circle, she led the team with 8 wins and 34 strikeouts. She ranks second in the NCAC in batting (.441), is tied for second in RBI (36), and ranks fifth in slugging percentage (.624) and on-base percentage (.490).
Richard batted .344 with 3 home runs and 23 RBI this season. She leads the NCAC in times hit by pitch (15). Richard was a second-team all-conference choice in 2017.
Bridger batted .426 with 13 RBI and stole 6 bases this season. She ranks fourth in the NCAC in batting (.426) and leads the league in triples (5).
Buchanan batted .364 with 8 RBI this season. In the circle, she won 3 games.
Ohio Wesleyan finished with a 16-14 overall record this season. The Battling Bishops finished in fifth place in the NCAC standings with a 9-7 record.
