Cappy’s Pizza, a longtime staple eatery in London, will open for business on Tuesday, Aug. 11, in its newest location at 225 Lafayette St.
The current location at 247 Lafayette St. will close Sunday evening after business hours to allow time for equipment to be transferred to the new location down the street.
Taura Capuano-Auddino said Thursday her father, owner Bob “Cappy” Capuano, has given the location — formerly the Rothwell’s Neighborhood Restaurant — a complete renovation.
“There are so many changes,” Capuano-Auddino said. “We’re trying to make it Cappy’s. This is a new restaurant. We’re trying to get our identity in there.”
New equipment will also be part of the kitchen. It was gutted and replaced with new appliances.
Capuano-Auddino said there will be a new look to the dining room. The entrance will feature a separate area for take-out customers to wait for their pizza to go. It won’t encroach on those patrons who wish to sit down to a family meal.
For openers, the menu will remain the same. But some items may be added over time, she said.
There will also be a meeting room, which can serve up to 35 customers. Capuano-Auddino said she has already had three requests to book the room for private parties.
Overall, it will be an expansion that has been a long time in coming.
Of the current location, Capuano-Auddino said, “Everybody’s so scrunched in here.”
