The following is a list of area services for Veterans Day.
• Veterans Day will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 with a Memorial program at the Plain City Elementary School Gymnasium, 580 S. Chillicothe St., Plain City. There will be special parking for those attending.
This year’s speaker will be U.S. Army Lt. Col. Ken Ratliff. Lt. Col. Ratliff was commissioned as an Armor Officer in 1995 following graduation from Bowling Green State University.
His first assignment was with A Company, 1st Battalion, 147th Armor Regiment, Ohio Army National Guard, in Lima. Over his 20-year career, he has commanded units at the Company and Battalion level. His staff assignments range from Battalion to Joint Force Headquarters-Ohio including Executive Officer for the 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Columbus.
He has two overseas deployments and one domestic response to Hurricane Rita. Since 2003, he has served in the Active Guard Reserve program with the Ohio Army National Guard. In this full time employment program, he has served in a wide variety of units including Ohio’s Homeland Response Force and 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. Lt. Col. Ratliff’s education includes the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff School and a Master’s degree from Bowling Green State University. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (six OLC), Army Commendation Medal (one OLC), Army Achievement Medal (two OLC).
Lt. Col. Ratliff resides in Plain City with his wife Amanda from Marion and their two sons, James and Nathan. The family also has two former racing Greyhounds Annie and Maya.
This program is open to the public and everyone is invited.

• Veterans Day will be celebrated at noon on Friday, Nov. 11 at the soldiers monument in New California. An Abraham Lincoln presenter will be the speaker.
The Jerome Township Civil War Memorial is located 10089 Industrial Parkway, off U.S. Route 42 North and Industrial Parkway just outside Plain City. All those who have served our country and have lived in Jerome Township will be honored.
• Veterans will gather for an informal gathering and prayer at the Madison County Veterans Memorial at the courthouse at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 on the corner of Main and High streets in London.
• On Sunday, Nov. 13, the South Charleston United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Jamestown and Church streets (15 E. Jamestown St.), will be honoring all Veterans during the 9:30 a.m. Worship Service. Highlights of this service will include special patriotic music, a multimedia salute to veterans, and recognition of all veterans present.
Following the worship service, there will be a social time with light refreshments.
All area veterans and those presently serving and interested community members are invited to come and be a part of this very special day.
