Playoffs here they come again.

For the second straight year the Jonathan Alder High School football team will be participating in the OHSAA state playoffs.

The Pioneers (9-1), champions of the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference finished off the regular season with an easier than the final score would indicate 42-28 victory over rival Fairbanks. With the win Alder finished the regular season as the No. 4 seed in the Division IV, Region 14 playoff standings.

Coach Brett Glass’ team was scheduled to play host to No. 5 Bishop Hartley (8-2) Nov. 4.

The Hawks, the defending D-IV state champion, were scheduled to pose a major threat to an Alder team that’s in the postseason for the second straight year.

In the regular-season finale, Jamie Dye carried the ball 31 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Austin Fooce had a pair of rushing touchdowns, while Preston Eisnaugle threw scoring strikes to Hunter Maynard (nine yards) and Dalton Potts (45).

Alder was comfortably ahead 42-7 in the fourth quarter when Glass inserted his reserves and rested his varsity regulars. The Panthers scored three times in the fourth all on pass plays from Kyle Warner to Frank Iannarino.
