DeSales humbles volleyball Pioneers

The Jonathan Alder volleyball team was slapped with a bit a of reality Thursday evening, Sept. 8 as it was beaten in three straight games at DeSales 25-22, 25-21, 25-20.

The Stallions (No. 15 in D-I state poll) along with Dublin Coffman (No. 3 in D-I) are regarded as the top programs in Central Ohio and the Pioneers, who enter this week ranked No. 14 in D-II.

Alder (7-3, 4-0 in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division) followed up the loss to DeSales with a defeat at the hands of Hilliard Davidson (25-22,25-19,22-25,25-23) Saturday, another top D-I squad in Central Ohio.

The Red Raiders (1-6) came out on the losing end of a decision against the visiting Stars Saturday.

Girls soccer

The Lady Raiders (0-4-1) were shutout in a game played Saturday at Teays Valley.

The Roughriders (5-2) cruised to a victory over the host Trojans.

The Pioneers came away with a win in this Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference tri-match played at Sycamore Creek Country Club Thursday in Springboro.

Alder got a solid day from its collection of scorers who were all within a shot of each other. Hayden Mitchell and Tyler Hilbert both fired rounds of 42, while Zach Otto and Mychal McKelvey each finished up with 43s.

The Red Raiders played a match at National Road Golf Course Tuesday, Sept. 6, but was unable to find a way to beat the Silver Knights.
