Union County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Ohio, and the Fairbanks Local School District has experienced that growth firsthand. The district is running out of space, and the current middle/school high school is more than 50 years old.
There is a critical need to address these concerns. Successful passage of a 7.45-mill, $35.5 million bond issue on the Nov. 8 ballot is important to the future of Fairbanks.
Funds generated by the bond issue will build a new middle/high school and add four classrooms to the elementary school. Current facilities do not meet the educational and technological needs of today’s students and maintaining aging facilities only will become more costly.
Strong communities have strong school systems. That’s why I encourage residents of the Fairbanks Local School District to continue this tradition and vote for the bond issue on Nov. 8.
