YELLOW SPRINGS — A tradition unlike any other.
Each Spring, professional golfers converge on the course at Augusta National in hopes of earning the iconic Masters’ green jacket.
For a group of Madison County Special Olympians, they are appreciative that a local school has continued a storied tradition of its own.
For more than a decade, the students of Tolles Career & Technical Center have made an annual contribution to the Madison County Special Olympics program. The money is raised by members of the Business Professionals of America and the National Technical Honor Society through various fundraisers throughout the school year.
As has been tradition as well, the students presented a much-appreciated donation to Madison County Special Olympics (affiliated with the Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities) at a regional event held May 3 at Young’s Jersey Dairy in Yellow Springs.
“In recent years we have used said donation to purchase Opening Ceremonies T-shirts for our Summer Games delegation,” said Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities Director of Special Olympics and Community Recreation Lincoln Comer about the annual statewide event that takes place for athletes at The Ohio State University in June. “Thanks to the efforts of the Tolles students our athletes always arrive at Summer Games looking fantastic.”
