At the Wednesday, May 10 North Union Senior Awards Program, Robert Kramer, a senior at North Union High School, received the seventh annual Union County Master Gardener Scholarship award of $1,000.

The scholarship is awarded to a Union County resident pursuing advanced study in the field of plant science. Kramer will enter The Ohio State University in the fall with a major in biological engineering with the ideal end goal of working on systems for growing crops in transit to and on Mars in manned Mars missions in the 2030s.

The Union County Master Gardeners, a not-for-profit organization, promotes and teaches environmentally sound, research-based gardening practices primarily to the residents of Union County under the auspices of The Ohio State University Extension of Union County.
