Health department plans open house

MARYSVILLE — The Union County Health Department is hosting an open house from 2-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6. All Union County residents are welcome. The open house will provide residents a chance to speak with the health commissioner, review plans for expanding the health department, and give input on how the health department will invest tax dollars and grant dollars over the next three to five years.

“Please stop by, even if it’s just for 20 minutes. Take a look at how we are looking to grow and tell us what programs and services you value; what types of things you feel improve quality of life in your community,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Jason Orcena.

“The Union County Health Department is in the process of planning for the next three to ten years. With Union County’s population growing and many of our communities changing, it is imperative that we keep what our residents value at the core of our work. We want to be transparent in how we are spending our levy and grant dollars. We want to make sure the programs and services we are investing in, align with what our constituents value,” said Orcena.

Residents can stop by the Union County Health Department, 940 London Ave., Suite 1100, Marysville, any time from 2-6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available. Residents can choose to take a tour of the health department’s current office and clinical space, review remodel and expansion plans, walk through a gallery style exhibit of what programs the Union County Health Department is currently providing, and give simple or more detailed opinions on how they view these investments.

“We always have an open door policy when in comes to discussing topics with our community. But, we wanted to do this open house to make sure all residents feel welcome to talk about health programming and policy within our community. One our Board of Health’s guiding principles is to always be transparent, foster open dialogue, and seek input from our community. We want to make sure our community knows this is one of our key tenants,” said Orcena.
