The Tolles Career & Technical Center Board of Education approved the hiring of Emmy Beeson as the district’s new superintendent during its regular board meeting Thursday. Beeson begins her tenure as the district’s fifth superintendent Tuesday, Aug. 1. She currently serves as superintendent at Ridgemont Local Schools in Mount Victory, a position she’s held for the past seven years.

“Emmy Beeson possesses a combination of experience, skills, and energy that makes her well-suited to serve as the new superintendent of Tolles,” said Tolles Board of Education President Curtis Brooks, who represents London City Schools. “Emmy is an experienced superintendent with a passion and desire to return to being involved in career and technical education. Her experience as a curriculum director and as a career center teacher combined with her demonstrated ability to build strong relationships will serve her well in her new role.”

Beeson has served as the superintendent for Ridgemont Local Schools in Hardin County since 2010 where she facilitated a successful bond campaign that led to the construction of a new $21 million K-12 building. Prior to her tenure as superintendent at Ridgemont, Beeson served as the curriculum director for Benjamin Logan Local Schools in Logan County.

“I am thrilled to join the Tolles team. As a former teacher in a career-technical center, I fell in love with the real-world application of education, which makes teaching and learning meaningful for students and fulfilling for staff members,” said Beeson, who spent six years as a teacher at St. John’s Lutheran School (Marysville), Elgin Local Schools (Marion), and Tri-River Career Center (Marion) prior to her move into administration.

“I never forgot the teaching experiences I had and am grateful to now be a part of a successful district which lifts all students. Knowing that the heart of Tolles is to meet students where they are and give them what they need to reach their potential in a way that impacts the greater community really resonates with my own personal mission. I am excited to learn and work alongside so many fabulous educators and support staff.”

Beeson earned her bachelor’s degree from Ohio Dominican College, her master’s degree and principal’s license from the University of Findlay and her superintendent’s license from Ashland University. In 2017, she was the recipient of the Betsy M. Cowles Leadership Award from the Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA).

Beeson will replace Kim Wilson, who has served as the district’s superintendent since 2011. Wilson is retiring at the end of July ending a 36-year career in education.
