Marysville man killed in crash

Authorities say John D. McKinley drove off the right side of the road on State Route 736 and struck a tree on Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Marysville man killed in a vehicle accident outside of Plain City Tuesday afternoon.

The crash took place in the 8000 block of State Route 736 at about 3:18 p.m., according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office. A 911 caller reporting a serious injury crash.

John D. McKinley, 55, of Marysville, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. He drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree, according to authorities.

The Union County coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.

McKinley was transported to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. The crash remains under investigation.

Deputies and units from the Jerome Township Fire Department and the Pleasant Valley Fire District responded to the scene. The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Plain City Police Department, and the Union County Emergency Management Agency.
