A Plain City man was injured Sunday after his small airplane crashed in Union County.
The crash took place shortly before 6:45 p.m. in the 12000 block of Taylor Road in Jerome Township on a private property, according to Jerome Township Fire Chief Scott Skeldon. A resident called 9-1-1 to report the plane in the backyard.
Todd Stanton, 53, of Plain City, was identified as the victim. He crashed shortly after taking off in a Fokker DR 1 single engine plane, Skeldon said.
Stanton was extricated from the single-seat plane by Jerome Township and Pleasant Valley firefighters and transported to Riverside Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation but Ohio State Highway Patrol. Alcohol is not suspected of being a factor in the crash.
