The 37th annual “Biggest Little Festival in Ohio” will return to Madison County next weekend.

The 2016 Shekinah Festival & Auction kicks off the evening Friday, Sept. 9 at the school, 10040 Lafayette-Plain City Road, three miles southwest of Plain City. The annual event serves as a fundraiser for the kindergarten through 12th grade Christian school.

The family-friendly event begins at 5:30 p.m. with pulled pork barbecue and homemade ice cream.

Hot air balloons will be lifting off, weather permitting, for a unique aerial display at 5:45 p.m. For ride information, call 614-504-3068.

Christian comedian and ventriloquist act Ryan & Friends takes the stage at 7 p.m. and a silent auction will be ongoing throughout the night.

The main event begins the next morning, Sept. 10, with an additional hot air balloon lift-off at 7:15 a.m., again weather permitting. Breakfast food, such as sausage and egg sandwiches, donuts and coffee, will be available at 7 am. Trail bologna, pizza, taco salad, chicken barbecue and more will begin to be served at 10 a.m.

The event boasts numerous crafts and baked goods. Peanut butter, fry pies and apple dumplings will be for sale in the craft booth section starting at 8:30 a.m.

The kids will be entertained throughout the day with a pedal pull, bounce house, zip line, petting zoo and pony rides, among other activities.

The auction, taking place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will feature handmade quilts, in-home meals, furniture and collectibles.

Admission is free.
